Purpose of the race:
To feel the nature as it is, to see the sunset and sundown as in winter, to hear the first morning sounds of the beautiful Estonia. To spend a sporty and adventurous weekend with two friends and test ones physical and mental skills in different ways of hiking and tasks.
Time and place:
10th -11th January 2009. Exact place of competition centre will be published at least 20 days before start.
Organization of competition:
The race consists of sequent stages - crosscountry biking, hiking, crosscountry skiing and extra tasks. Distance will depend on presumable winner time and will be specified before competition. On track there will be some checkpoints with special tasks.
Duration of competition:
The time limit of the competition is 25 hours. If more than 20 teams register, every stage has a separate time limit. Presumable time of winners is ~17...19 hours.
Teams:
Teams consist of 3 members per team. The competition takes place in 2 category's – men and mixed teams. Results will not be divided by age groups, but all competitors must be at least 18 years old. Minimum number of teams is 10.

RULES
Competition includes three ways of moving by manpower: on foot, by crosscountry skis and by bike. Every stage has mandatory controlpoints (CP), which should be taken in given order. All three team members have to move together (at the distance of sight) during the competition if the judges don't instruct other ways). All teams have to follow judges instructions. If the team is not reaching to the time limit judges may shorten the course of their distance. If that happens team gets its result in the finish list according to number of checkpoints passed and penalty times for not passed controls. The distance will be regarded as passed when every member of the team has passed every stage. Team members cannot be changed/replaced during the competition. The final time will be fixed when the last member of the team has reached the finish. Any help from aside is forbidden during the competition. Breaking the rules brings along disqualification. Protests can be raised during half an hour after the time limit runs out.
1 set of maps will be given to each team.
Penalty times for non passed:
distance CP – stage fastest time x 2 + 1 hour
extra task – 2 hours
CP of extra task (when extra task is composed of CP-s) – 1 hour
Change between stages: Only necessary equipment for the next stage can be left in the change area: bicycle and helmet for the bicycle trip and skis, boots and sticks for crosscountry skiing stage. There is a guarded bicycle parking lot.
On the bicycle is allowed to be map holder, mudguard, luggage carrier (under saddle or attached to frame), bottle holder, pump, repairing set, bicycle computer etc according to permisson of judge in changing area . Everything else (included bicycle shoes, extra parts, other kind of bike bags) should be taken along by the competitor himself/herself.
To one changing area, which will be planned in the middle of distance, it is possible to send equipment (for example clothes, shoes etc). One up to 100 l box, sportbag or backpack per team.
Littering is prohibited, there will be trash bags in changing areas. Moving on harvested and private areas is forbidden.
Generally it is not allowed to damage crosscountry skiing tracks by bikes or by foot.
EQUIPMENT
Clothing, food and equipment of every team has to be enough to survive 25 hours in uninhabited area, including unexpected situations.
The bicycles must be in a good technical condition. Every competitor must have and wear his/her own helmet.
On trekking stage it is recommended to use snowshoes irrespective of how deep is snow.
List of mandatory equipment will be added.
OTHER
Safety rules:
Every team must follow the safety rules during the whole competition. During the bicycle stage every competitor must follow traffic regulations, wear a helmet and the bicycle have to have a lighting device (headlamp will do) and red flashing rearlight. It is forbidden to use alcohol and make an open fire during the competition.
Safety:
Every team is responsible for its own safety. All participants are responsible for their physical condition and health, the participation in the competition takes place on the competitor's own risk. The competitors must take into consideration that the adventure race is activity with high risk level. It's reccommended to have an accident insurance. The organizers arrange first aid in the start and finish area and the communication equipment in the changing areas. Every competitor must inform the staff organizers about persons who needs help as soon as possible. The organizers are not responsible for the injuries, traumas, death or other casualties that may occur to the competitors. The organizers are not responsible also for the costs, damages or casualities or any other result from the previous.
Discontinuing:
All the teams must inform the organizers as soon as possible if they adjourn from the competition. In case of discontinuing the team itself have to reach to the finish or to the stage change area. Transport to the competition centre will be arranged only if someone's state of health or injuries disables continuing.
AWARDING
Fund 25 000 EEK will include 6 first in overall and 3 first mixed teams if they are not in first 6. There will be a surprise for best control time catcher.

Registration is possible by e-mail 36h@matkasport.ee (from 10th November 2008).

Participation fees:
3000 EEK or 195 EUR - if received 10.11.08 - 09.12.08,
3300 EEK or 215 EUR - if received 10.12.08 - 22.12.08,
3600 EEK or 235 EUR - if received 23.12.08 - 06.01.09.
Praticipation fee includes floor accommodation (mattress and sleepingbag are needed) 09.-11.01.09, 1 set of maps, SI-card, organization and local VAT. Organizers will help with accommodation (booking room) if You are interested.
